We offer children’s sedation dentistry to ease their fears and make their visits as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Our focus is on creating a calm environment that encourages positive associations with dental care.
Does your child experience:
Inhalation Sedation can help make your child feel relaxed and accepting of treatment and our gentle, Sedation Dentists are experienced at managing dental anxiety in children with many successful outcomes.
Sedative medicine is breathed through a nose mask, and it works by reducing the stress hormones and pain signals.
Many children report feeling like “on a cloud” during Inhalation Sedation. Children become more accepting of treatment, and much more relaxed.
They may giggle or have pleasant tingling sensations in their hands too.
Our hope is to build a positive relationship and to improve confidence with the Dentists, helping avoid life long anxiety about visiting.
Environment plays a crucial role in successful inhalation sedation for children.
The surroundings need to be calm, relaxing, and inviting to help create a positive and supportive atmosphere.
We’ve designed our practice to feel less clinical and more homely, to put both children and their parents at ease.
Our Dentists are excellent at building trust with our young patients and are always respectful of their personal boundaries.
It’s important to note that the success of inhalation sedation is largely dependent on your child’s comfort and willingness to wear a nose mask throughout the duration of their appointment.
For the sedative effects to work, your child will need to continuously wear it and breathe through it during the appointment.
If your child is uncomfortable with the idea of wearing a nose mask inhalation sedation may not perform as effectively as it should.
Local Anaesthetic is also provided alongside Inhalation Sedation during the appointment.
This local anaesthetic is highly effective in blocking off information signals from the site of treatment, meaning your child will not feel any pain.
It’s important to note that while under sedation and local anaesthesia, your child remains fully conscious throughout the treatment. As a result, they might still experience certain sensations associated with dental treatment.
However, these sensations are quite different from pain. Some children might confuse these sensations with discomfort or pain, but rest assured, what they’re feeling is not actual pain, but just the normal feelings of having dental work done.
As a practice, we ensure to explain these feelings in an understandable way to our young patients, helping to reassure them and make the process as stress-free as possible.
We are proud to be one of the few providers of inhalation sedation for children in the South East and receive patients across Essex, Kent, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
Our dental practice has been carefully restored so that it doesn’t look, feel or smell like a normal dental clinic, helping to put your child at ease.
We’ll prepare you and your child with information to have a successful treatment outcome, and aim to complete required treatment in your first visit.
